Weekly photo challenge: forward

The theme is

forward

I was thinking about something metaphorical, since I’m trying to progress both my careers at the moment…

But I couldn’t find exactly the image concept I wanted. And then I was so inspired by the fact that the Alhambra had inspired the theme in the first place, that I decided to look through my photos of Spain from a couple of years ago. (My desire to see the Moorish palace and fort known as the Alhambra in Granada was the driver for my visit to Spain.)

This photo was taken in Ronda

One of the things I love about Moorish architecture is the way the interlocking courtyards and water features, divided by those magnificent and distinctive arched openings, draw you forward. This photo makes me want to move past the fountain into the next courtyard and beyond — perhaps through the doors directly opposite; or perhaps left or right, depending what’s around each corner.

Perhaps some beautiful mosaic — a hint of which can just be seen through the arch?

This post is my first in response to WordPress’s weekly photo challenge. I’ve been following the WP blog for a little while now, and may participate in some more of their challenges going forward (heh).

Does this photo make you want to move forward?

  1. Lovely photo! I have a similar one from my travels to Morocco. I do want to see what’s through door #1. Perhaps it’s a cup of tea and cozy spot to sit and people watch. 🙂

  2. Your photo reminds me of a similar photo I took in Morocco. The Moorish influence is seen in so much of their architecture, too. Love your photo. I want to see what’s on the other side of the door – perhaps a cup of tea and an intriguing storyteller waiting to tell me a tale?
